Sunday Session 10 (Last one for 2010)

It's that time again it's "Sunday Session" which was created by the lovely  Thea who on Sundays pop's two of her favourite songs onto her blog an oldie but a goldie plus a newbie fresh off the charts.

Then other bloggers can link up to her blog by doing the same thing, usually mine are all oldies cause I don't like a lot of the newbies that are on the charts at the moment, but when I do I'll post it.

Going to post three to end the year, the first one is Skinny Girls by Alan O'Day.

The 2nd and 3rd ones are from a called Paper Lace, the first one is Don't Be A Hero

The last one is The Night Chicago Died I have my Year 8 History teacher in New South Wales to thank for making me fall in love with this song, as he use to play it when we touched on American History.

The next one is a sobering reminder of what one part of our lovely country Australia faced on Christmas day (you may want to grab hankies/tissues for this) and how a lot of families/people didn't have a Christmas.

It's Santa Never Made it into Darwin by Bill & Boyd..very sad song especially if you watch the video with it

The second one is Heard It Through The Grapevine, not sure what it is about this song I love so much it just keeps playing in my head every time I first heard it at the pub.

My third one I love is I Love A Rainy Night, the first time I heard this was on the radio every time it rains I think of this song along with other raining songs.

Communication Shutdown for Social Networks

Today in Australia is the 1st of November there is a Global Funrasier called Communication Shutdown to raise awareness and money for different forms of Autism. There is a fair amount of debate going on about if this campaign is a good thing or not.

Having no one in the family that has a form or Autism and only having meet a friend (via Twitter) whose son suffers with one of the forms of Autism I'm all for the Shutdown (at the moment) the reason why I have no idea what anyone with Autism really goes through.

I know they find it hard to communicate and that's why some people with Autism effecting their familes say that this Communcation Shutdown is wrong that Autism people need that line of communcation.

Knowing Autism people find it hard to communicate would give me a small sense of what it must be like not to be able to communicate by having this shutdown. The reason I'm not doing it this year is I want to gather all the facts so that I can make my mind up next year if this campaign is done again.

Yes I know I'm not the perfect person to write this blog but I would love to hear the Postive and Negative about why you thing this shut down is good or not.

Short or Long posts are welcome on this subject all I ask is you keep in mind that every one has their own thoughts and feelings so no name calling or fighting or your post will not be published. A healthy clean debate is welcome but a fighting one is not.

The webiste for the Communcation Shutdown is here I'm not sure how long the website will be up for it may only be up till Australia's 3rd of November (since other countries are not on the 1st November yet) or it could be up longer.

Sunday Session 2

There is a new crazy going through the blog world and that is "Sunday Session" which was created by the lovely Thea who on Sundays pop's two of her favourite songs onto her blog an oldie but a goldie plus a newbie fresh off the charts.

Then other bloggers can link up to her blog by doing the same thing, usually mine are all oldies cause I don't like a lot of the newbies that are on the charts at the moment. My picks for this week are,

The first one is Ghost Riders in the sky sung by Johnny Cash, although his not the original singer a guy named Burl Ives and has been covered by more then 50 performers over the time, but Johnny Cash is the only who gets close to the way Burl Ives sounds.

The 2nd song I have my husband to thank for introducing me to this group. AC/DC has had two lead singers the 1st one was Bon Scott from 1977 to 1980 when he passed away. The next lead singer from 1980 to the present is Brain Johnson, who is the one that sings the below song of You Shook Me All Night Long. Both singers are wonderful though all AC/DC songs want to make you get you feet tapping and body swinging.

What are you Sunday Session songs lets us know by linking up and sharing with us.

Thousand Word Thursday 5

Thursday has rolled around again, were I find myself looking for a pic that means a lot to me and playing Thousand Word Thursday with toushka one of many wonderful twitter friends. The idea is to find a photo that has meaning for you, place it on your blog then write why it has meaning then to post a link to it on toushka website.

This picture is of a Mini Foxie cross Chiuaua that was given to our friend when her dog passed away  (I original had the parents) The pup was the runt of the litter, in this pic she is 12 years old, sadly she passed away early this year through old age but she was the most lovest & most playful dog (like her parents)

Looking at this picture not only reminds me about her but about her parents & the friends that we gave her to. As you can see there is no need to dock a Mini Foxie cross Chiuaua's tail they still look pretty with their tail.

Can't wait to see your pics.

This picture was taken at my husband's 2006 Year 12 graduation as a mature age student (this is where we actually meet & fell in love not the spot but the college)

He attended the college there over 3 years part time doing years 11 & 12, he went back to school not to only improve himself, but also to show his daughter that education can be an important thing to have in life and that no matter how old you are, you are always learning.

Thousand Word Thursday 3

Thursday has rolled around again, were I Find myself looking for a pic that means a lot to me and playing Thousand Word Thursday with toushka one of many wonderful twitter friends. The idea is to find a photo that has meaning for you, place it on your blog then write while it has meaning then to post a link to it on toushka website.

Won't you please join us in sharing your pics would love to see some pics

This was a school picture take of me when I was year 2 of School down in New South Wales, the reason this picture has a special place in my heart is it's the only picture I do have me as a young girl as I lost of lot of my pictures when I split from my ex (the guy I was going with before I meet the guy I am with now)

It brings back a lot of memories both of good and bad times at school, the games I played with friends, the teachers I had, the school I loved sometimes I want to be that age again just for the school part of it I really loved school & still love to learn.

I wish my hair was still as blonde as that but over the years it's naturally turned a browny colour. I still try to keep it long I always loved long hair, sometimes I do get my hair cut short but for the most part its always long

Have you got a pic to share?

Thousand Word Thursday 2

Nana,Uncle Bob and MotorbikesLady Dec 1987

Thursday has rolled around again, were I Find myself looking for a pic that means a lot to me and playing Thousand Word Thursday with toushka one of many wonderful twitter friends. The idea is to find a photo that has meaning for you, place it on your blog then write while it has meaning then to post a link to it on toushka website.

This picture was taken in Feb 2007 down in Penrith NSW at the back of Nana's place, it's of my nana, uncle (dad's side of the family) and me. The last time I saw my Nana and Uncle before this photo was taken was back in December 1987.

I love my Nana and Uncle with all my heart, I phone them every month to see how they are getting on and I am lucky enough to have a wonderful guy in my life who took me down in June 2010 for four days to see them. Every time I look at this picture all these different emotions over come me but they are all good emotions.

Nana is in her 80's now but hopefully I will have her for at least a few more years yet when she does pass it will be a very sad day in my life.  My Uncle Bob is in his early 50's and takes really good care of my Nana.

There was 5 kids in the family all up, My dad, My Uncles Warren & Bob plus my two Aunties Patrica (she passed away while still a baby) and Roslyn. My first grand dad who I never meet passed away from a heart attack at 38 years old (when my dad was a teenager) then Nana remarried again while my father was still a teenager (before I was even born) so the guy I always knew as grand dad was in a way really my step grand dad.

He passed away a few years back now & had a good life even fighting in World War 2 as part of the Rats of Toburk, next time we go to Sydney I'm hoping to pay a visit to his grave to take some pictures.

Thousand Word Thursday 1

What is Thousand Word Thursday, a friend of mine started you can see her blog here bascially now you find a fav pic of your and link to it with some info.

My fav pic is the one above of the families cat Felix, I have called it "Felix The Lover" as it looks like his waiting for a female friend to be with him.

The picture was taken by my oldest daughter just after we got Felix from the RSPCA Queensland back in 2003 he was 6 months old at the time, we would have loved to been able to get his brother Snowy as well but we are renting and told we were allowed one cat.

Every time I see Felix I'm pleased that we rescued him for the RSPCA in Queensland but I also do wonder what happen to his brother and hope he found a lovely home just like Felix has.

Fathers/Mothers Day = Parents Day

In our house we don't celebrate Father's Day or Mother's Day instead we call it Parent's day, why Parents day you ask?

Well families these days are not made up of just a Dad or Mum anymore, families are all different these days you can have two guys/ladies raising a kid(s) or a single parent family.

With our step daughter having friends that cover all these types of families we thought to hell with fathers/mothers day lets just have a parents day.

That doesn't mean our daughter misses out of Fathers/Mothers Day stalls at school she still shops there & the presents go away till we have parents day.

Also it means we can go out for a meal or buy a present for parent's day & not have to pay an arm or leg like you do when it comes to Fathers/Mothers Day.

Our daughter is not missing out but we are just combining two wonderful days into one.

Is anyone else game enough to ditch Fathers/Mothers Day & just have a parents day?

Younger/Older Drivers

I'm sick and tired of hearing how people whinge about younger drivers especially those on their L's or P's. It's about time society realised that it doesn't matter if your 15 years old or 80 years old there is no such thing as a perfect driver, these days we all have distrations it could be turning your music up, changing your music/radio channel, talking to your passengers, turning the air conditioning/heater on/off etc.

On Sunday night while watching RBT on Channel 9 a 76 year old lady tried to avoid the booze bus, now you can bet all the money in the world this wouldn't have made any media outlets and if it did it would have got a small meantion. Yet if it was a L or P plater then it would have been big news all over the media.

I do understand that some not all young people can be silly behind the wheel of a car but I'm also trying to point out no matter what age a person is everyone has been or maybe silly behind the wheel at some stage and if you want to give L or P platers a bad name then you need to give every driver including yourself a bad name.

You may ask well do you give yourself a bad name and my answer to that is yes I do with so much to concentrate on when your on the road it's not easy to be a perfect driver & as I said earlier there is no such thing as a perfect driver.

Also another thought that has just popped into my mind why is it the older drivers who mainly have their open Licences that ran over a child(ren) in the drive way you hear more reports of parents doing that then L or P platers yet once again a L or P plater could do that just as easy as a older person.

Plus look at all the truck drivers that have accidents all of them are older people who have their open licence and not their L's or P's

It was only a few weeks ago that our family drove from Brisbane to Penrith and had a lady who must have been about 45 years old sitting on our tail & overtaking at different places through Warwick all the way down to Scone. Comming home we had a guy around 60 sitting on our tail & over taking between Newcastle & Coffs Habour.

I'm not trying to say one group is better then the other far from it I'm trying to point out everyone is a bad driver, now you know my thoughts I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

UPDATE: Friday 9th July 2010 Maybe the media has been listening to me as I found this in the Courier Mail (Queensland) Newspaper http://tinyurl.com/3amnxw

Messy or Clean Desk

Today I thought I would share with my readers my desk that I sit at to do all my pc work.No matter how much I try to keep it clean it just seems to have a calling to have stuff come to it.

The desk sits right beside our lounge so of course my lovely husband chooses to use the desk as a table to hold his things like the green beer stubbie holder, his mobile, watch & log bog for the car (all the stuff you can see between the pc screen & the pc speaker near the date of the pic).

Sitting on top of our all in one printer (beside the red pen/pencil holder) is all our diary's, paper work, shopping dockets (to see if our fly buy points have been added to our account) then you have my mobile phone near our netphone (what some isp companies call VOIP)

In between our all in one printer & the red cup pen/pencil holder is all the bills that need to be paid soon.

I would love a big corner desk & eventually we are going to get one but as you can see there is a spot near the desk where we keep some of our pc cd's & that black thing is one of surround sound speakers for the surround sound we have for the loungeroom.

Now that I have shared my blogging/twitter/computer space what is yours like? Would like to see some of my readers spaces.

What does NUTS stand for?

Welcome to my 1st blog, you may be wondering at the name of my blog NUTS and wondering if I'm nuts,if the world is nuts or if everything is nuts.

The word nuts come some wonderful friends of mine that I use to do volunteer work with, they come up with the word NUTS for the work newsletter, NUTS stands for News,Updates,Thoughts,Silliness

I thought it would be wonderful for my blog as it covers exactly what this blog is about.I have so much I want to share with all the lovely readers that come to my blog.

At the moment I know my blog doesn't pack any punch to it but I'm still learning how to add photos to my blog & jazz it up more once I learn that hopefully my blog will be more prettier like some of the other blogs I follow but for now, I will keep this first blog short and ask people to remember the following of anyone that comes to my blog.

1.Not everyone is a great speller or writier (including me) so please forgive in advance any spelling mistakes, punctuation etc.

2.Everyone has different opinions, discuss your different opinions but no fighting remember if you can't agree then agree to disagree

3.Any poster who can't follow the above two points will have their post removed.

Now onto something fun I would like to ask what do you think of the word NUTS for a blog?
